McLaren’s ‘Triple Crown’ Triumph: Unveiling the Special 750S with 3-7-59 Theme
McLaren Special Operations (MSO) recently showcased six exclusive vehicles paying tribute to the brand’s monumental ‘Triple Crown’ achievement in motorsport.
This exceptional series, named the ‘750S with 3-7-59 Theme,’ commemorates McLaren’s victories in the iconic Indy 500, Le Mans, and Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Crafting a Legacy: The Meaning Behind the Numbers
To delve into the intricacies of this commemorative project, the numbers ‘3,’ ‘7,’ and ’59’ hold significant importance.
They represent the racing numbers of three iconic cars, symbolizing McLaren’s Triple Crown. The ‘3’ from Johnny Rutherford’s M16D at the 1974 Indy 500, the ‘7’ from Alain Prost’s 1984 Monaco-winning McLaren MP4/2, and the number ’59’ from the McLaren F1 GTR that triumphed at the 1995 Le Mans.
Artistry in Motion: McLaren Special Operations (MSO) Design
Executed as part of McLaren’s broader 60th-anniversary celebrations at Sonoma Raceway, the design of the 750S 3-7-59 was entrusted to McLaren Special Operations.
The grand unveiling at California’s Sonoma Raceway featured McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris, IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward, and Le Mans legend Derek Bell.
