Exciting News: Toyota’s Fifth-Generation Prius Confirmed for UK Release

Exciting News: The highly-anticipated fifth-generation Toyota Prius is now confirmed to make its way to the UK, despite initial doubts about its availability in the British market. Toyota has made an unexpected reversal of its decision, and UK drivers can now look forward to the arrival of the new Toyota Prius. While we eagerly await the unveiling of pricing and specifications, this development has generated significant buzz among eco-conscious car enthusiasts.

Unveiled globally in November 2022, the fifth-gen Prius has already been creating a buzz in various international markets. Toyota’s spokesperson, speaking to Auto Express, confirmed the good news, stating, “I can confirm that the car is now coming to the UK.”

Originally, Toyota had attributed its decision not to bring the new Prius to the UK to a perceived decrease in demand, as models like the C-HR and Corolla were capturing a substantial share of the mid-size family car market. The Prius, renowned for its efficiency, was previously a favorite among private hire services in the UK. However, the Corolla, with a similar powertrain to the Prius, had been gradually eroding its market presence.

The latest Prius continues to offer both plug-in hybrid and ‘Series Parallel Hybrid’ powertrains, promising impressive fuel economy of up to 217mpg and remarkably low CO2 emissions as low as 29g/km.

In terms of design, the new Prius has received a stylish makeover, drawing inspiration from Toyota’s cutting-edge bZ range of electric vehicles. Inside, the Prius boasts a revamped interior with a significantly larger touchscreen display. Much of its technology has been directly integrated from the all-electric bZ4X.

When it comes to pricing in Europe, the Prius is expected to fall within the range of approximately €45,000 to €50,000 (which translates to roughly £39,000 to £43,000). This pricing puts the Prius at a higher price point than the Corolla, which starts at £30,225 in the UK. This development has sparked considerable interest in the potential cost implications for UK drivers and the comparative value of these eco-friendly options.
